Session Share: Lake Huron Family Session

| Grey-Bruce Family Photographer |

I had the opportunity to capture this beautiful, fun-loving family for the first time back in the Fall of 2020. They were actually one of my very first client sessions when we relocated to the Owen Sound area, and so when Pamela contacted me in the spring to arrange another family portrait session, I was really excited to be able to work with them again! This time we completed the session on the shores of Lake Huron in Sauble Beach. I love shooting at the beach, and I am beyond happy with the resulting images from our session together. Like with all outdoor sessions, I watched the weather forecast like a hawk in the few days leading up to our confirmed session date. Due to the hazy skies from the recent forest fire smoke, we had to adjust our start time slightly, but all in all, we had decent weather, soft diffused light, and the outfits that Pamela selected really just tied the whole vibe and setting together so nicely. There was a coolish breeze on the night of our session, but it created some movement for the girls’ flowy dresses - it was perfect!

I had a hard time narrowing down my favourites from this session (and I know that Pamela did too!), and so here are just some of the highlights from this beautiful family session at the beach!

Fur babies are always welcome to participate in our outdoor family sessions!

Eleven.
In my experience, I feel like a shift happens around the age of 11 (particularly in boys) where they have zero interest in being in front of the camera, and they don’t want to touch their siblings or be touched in return. I experienced in with my son, and have noticed it with families that I have photographed over the years. I get it, and can appreciate and respect it.
11-year-old boys can be tough to crack, but we did manage to get a few genuine smiles throughout this session from A, and I’m hoping the experience wasn’t as painful for him as he might have anticipated. ;)

I love to take a moment to get Moms & Dads in front of the camera too, just the two of them.

There is still some availability remaining throughout the summer and into September for beach portrait sessions on the shores of Lake Huron or Georgian Bay.
If you’re interested in learning more, send me an email at info@definingmomentsphotography.ca and I’d be happy to share the session details with you!
