Giving Back: Annual Halloween Charity Sessions

I have already had some inquiries and the answer is YES! I am happy to announce that we will be hosting our annual “Giving Back” Halloween charity portrait event again in October. I LOVE capturing little ones (and not-so-little ones) in their Halloween costumes. It’s so much fun when kiddos get right into character too! I dug deep into the vault to highlight some of my favourite Halloween portraits (and costumes!) from past years …

Aren’t they stinkin’ adorable?!

This year our donations will be supporting The Women’s Centre Grey Bruce (TWC) - a safer place for women, children, and youth. The Women’s Centre provides secure shelter, crisis intervention, safety planning, counselling, family court support, and transitional services for women, children, and youth affected by violence and abuse in Grey and Bruce Counties.

What started as a Grassroots initiative in 1981, to identify the need for a violence against women (VAW) emergency shelter in Owen Sound, has grown to a full-stack support centre for women, children, and youth, who have survived incredibly traumatic home and life experiences. Over the past 41 years, TWC programs have expanded to include an Emergency VAW Shelter, Second Stage Residential Housing Program, a 24/7 Crisis line, Family Court Support, Clinical Counselling, Transitional Housing Services, Child and Youth Counselling, Safety Planning Services, and an Anti-Human Trafficking Program for Youth.

This year, TWC bought a house to support the growth and expansion of the Anti-Human Trafficking Program for Youth (AHT). The AHT Youth House is a residential service for youth who have been, or are at risk of being, trafficked to stay and chart their future. In Grey and Bruce, human trafficking is a growing concern, and with the help of local law enforcement agencies, TWC is committed to help combat the increasing number of trafficking cases in our rural communities.

TWC provides in-house residential services for 15- to 18-year-old survivors and at-risk youth. The AHT house is a safe place for these youth to increase skill development, focus on rehabilitation, and recover, to build better mental health and resilience. AHT also provides educational, and career supports for reintegration into the community after completing the program. The Adopt-A-Room campaign lets the Grey Bruce community come together to support the much-needed renovations of the new AHT Youth House. With a steep goal of $150,000, TWC is calling on it’s neighbours and friends so that we can continue supporting survivors and at-risk youth. I am eager to help support this initiative through our Halloween Charity portrait event, and would so appreciate your help in spreading the word about our event to maximize our contribution!

In exchange for a $25 cash donation, you will receive a complimentary portrait session (up to 10-minutes) and one (1) digital image of your choice delivered via digital download. I am donating my time and talent; all proceeds will be going to benefit TWC.

Please note that time slots are limited to 3 siblings. The Halloween Portrait event will take place at my in-home studio near Shallow Lake on October 18th (daytime & evening) & October 21st (daytime only). Space is limited!

If you would like to participate in this year's event, please click here to book your session.

These sessions are VERY popular and have booked out quickly in past years! Please ensure that you are 100% able to participate in the event when reserving a time slot. It is important to me that all time slots are filled on the day of the event so that we can maximize our donation to The Women’s Centre Grey-Bruce.
