Studio Update: Ch-ch-ch-changes
It's hard to believe that my business is in its 10th year!! Photography had always been a hobby and passion of mine, but while I was on maternity leave with my second child - my daughter, Reagan (that's her on the end!) - I decided to take the leap and start my business! Defining Moments Photography was born in January 2010, and I am so thankful that I had the courage to create this endeavour for myself and for my family! I am so lucky that I am able to do something that I really do love with my whole heart!
I have been so fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with so many wonderful families over the years ... some of whom have continued to return multiple times over to have me document their memories! It is always such a privilege and honour to be entrusted with such a significant responsibility. I have loved getting to know my clients over the years, some who I now refer to as friends!
Although I plan on continuing to do what I do, it will be from a new town. I am sad to announce that my family and my business will be relocating. My husband has accepted a job offer in Owen Sound - our hometown where we grew up - and so my kids and I will be moving at the end of the summer to join him. This was literally the hardest decision we've ever had to make, and we only had 48 hours to do it! I have so many mixed emotions about all of it, but hope that it will be a good move for all of us. I am looking forward to being closer to our families, and having the opportunity to build our dream home ... but leaving Guelph, our home for the past 15 years - it is not going to be easy and I have already shed so many tears over it!
In terms of my current and future bookings: If you have a session booked with me for the coming months, do not fret! I will be fulfilling all of my current bookings. I also still plan on proceeding with our annual Santa Portrait Session event in the Fall, here in Guelph. (Santa is scheduled to arrive on November 7th, and the event will go ahead as usual so long as restrictions have lifted by then permitting such events to take place, and provided there is enough client interest. More details will be released in late August/early September.)
I do have a limited number of dates remaining for July & August. Going forward, I do hope to return from time to time to offer exclusive Guelph portrait dates, after I relocate, and I have always been available to travel, and will continue to provide this option to my clients. ALSO - if you are ever up in my (new) neck of the woods (Owen Sound, Port Elgin, Southampton, Sauble Beach etc) on vacation, I would be over-the-moon happy to meet up with you for a portrait session!! I will be very close to some of the loveliest beaches which would make for a stunning backdrop for a family session!
I am also more than happy to provide referrals to other local, talented photographers in the Guelph, K-W region that I admire and trust. Please connect if you'd like me to provide some options for you!
I do hope that our move and relocation goes as smoothly as possible. There is much to do and prepare in the coming months, and along those lines, I do have one or two small favours to ask:
If you happen to know anyone in the Owen Sound and/or surrounding areas who might need a photographer, please feel free to pass my name and info along! I will be taking bookings in my new area from September onward.
If you and I have ever had a session together, and you loved your experience, I would be oh-so-grateful if you could take the time to leave a quick Google review here. I will be doing some back-end work on my website in the coming weeks so that Defining Moments Photography pops up on the web in my new area. Google Reviews can help immensely to get the word out about my business, and help my website perform better in web search results too!
Again - I want to thank each and every one of you for your continued support of me and my business over the past (almost) 10 years!! Your likes and comments on my social media posts, your bookings and referrals - they all mean more to me than you will ever know!
With much love, gratitude & appreciation,
Dana
